Steps to Fix Folder Redirection Failed

  1. Take the Ownership of Folder

If you don’t have permission to open the folder, then there could be one of the reasons for this error. But to take the ownership of any account, you need to make sure that your account is an admin account.

  1. Right-click on the folder, then select Properties option.
  2. Click on the Edit button. It is located in the properties windows.
  3. If you get a UAC elevation request, then click OK to confirm it.
  4. Choose user/group from the permission windows or Click on the Add to add other users or group.
  5. Now, under the permission window, check ‘Full Control’ option.
  6. Then, under the ‘Allow’ column to assign the full access rights control permission.
  7. Click to edit the permission to Full Control for ‘Everyone.’
  8. Lastly, click on OK for changes and then exit the window.
  9. Add Authenticated Users or Domain Computers

For adding the Authenticated users or any Domain computers, you need to make sure that when you use the Folder Redirection process, then the Folder Redirection group policy removal option is set to “Redirect the folder which is back to the user profile location. When the any of the policy is removed,” then in this case you need to add the “Authenticated Users” group with the “Read” permissions on the Group Policy Objects (GPOs).

If the Domain computers are part of the ‘Authenticated Users’ group, basically, the Authenticated Users’ are those users who have these permissions on any new Group Policy Objects (GPOs) by default settings. This guidance is to add just ‘Read’ permissions and not “Apply Group Policy” for the “Authenticated Users.”

Steps to Fix Failed to Build the List of Regular Subfolders

  1. Clear the Disk Space

If your PC is running out of space, then it will fail to create a list immediately. We will suggest you check all the files manually, if in case if you have a habit to keep files at some random places.

  1. Try the Find Target Route

If you are getting any error code, which says ‘failed to build the list of regular subdirectories,’ when you are trying to relocate the folders to their original location, then here you need to restore it.

  1. Change Ownership or Reset Defaults for all User Folders

If you receive the error message which says ‘Failed to build the list of any regular subfolder under ‘X:\Syatem Volume Information,’ when users move so many files from one place to another, then you need to make sure about to change the ownership which we already discussed above in this article.
